Freight and Delivery Costs Store Fixtures Are Continuing to Rise

As Covid-19 pandemic restrictions continue to ease and global economies begin to recover, prices on many goods and services are rising. At the gas station, the national gas price average has increased 40% since the beginning of the year. These increases in fuel prices contribute to higher prices on nearly everything consumers purchase. Global Bank ING cites 5 reasons global shipping costs will continue to rise in their recent article about worldwide increases in freight costs.

For parcel shipments, UPS currently has an additional "fuel surcharge" of almost 22% on every package. This charge is in addition to any "delivery area", "residential", "oversized", or "dimensional weight" charges for each box. On the bright side, UPS provides a trackable, reliable, and typically problem-free delivery option for lower weight parcel shipments. We prefer UPS because they pick up and deliver packages quickly and without complication. Damage claims are resolved with little hassle and are paid quickly. Are these price increases justified? We'll leave that to you to determine, but it's clear that in addition to retail displays, almost all goods and services are far more costly compared to last year.

Freight Containers

A recent Bloomberg news article outlines their prediction that higher shipping costs are "here to stay". Higher costs for ocean freight have lead to higher prices for everything from store fixtures to auto parts. Some sources are citing a staggering 500% increase in ocean freight container rates from China to Europe, reaching an all time high. Additionally prices of raw materials, such as steel used in gridwall and racks, and wood used in slatwall panels and fixtures, have also increased.

When you place an order with AAADisplays.com, your delivery cost is calculated using the size, weight and destination of your store fixtures order. Our quoted price for your store fixtures order is valid for 3 days. To help keep delivery costs down, we suggest combining small orders with a larger one to reduce the number of shipments. Shipping to a commercially zoned business address, as opposed to a residence, also reduces the shipping charge for most orders. For orders shipped by truck freight, we check multiple carriers to get the best possible rates to your destination. Rest assured that despite the current economic conditions, we will continue to provide the best possible value for your store fixture investment!
